Have you ever shown a resilience you didn’t know you had?
And I don’t mean the “Wow, I didn’t know I could do that” kind.
I mean the “Wow, I didn’t even know anything was happening” kind.
It’s what I heard most often during my 6-year (largely unremarkable) acting career.
It’s what I heard after shutting down my first company, then my second.
At first it sounded like a compliment. Then it began to sound vaguely like an insult.
Wait a minute, what did other people think was happening?!
Hey man, I’m just living my life.
Things work out, things don’t, what does it matter?
You still gotta keep moving forward!
But resilience is different for all of us.
For some, it’s choosing to try new things even after you’ve failed.
For others, it’s continuing to put yourself out there even after a string of bad dates.
Just because it’s easy for you, doesn’t mean it’s easy for everyone.
So here’s to you, and the resilience you didn’t know you had.

when we all standby
locked in situation
pondering delineation
the things we dream
that things could be
in a different time
in a different space
in a different mind
separately together
A poetic visual film relaying the struggle and redemption of transient street-poet and a once hoouseless boxer Johnny “Bang” Reilly, a 52 year old half-Jamaican half-Irish mixed martial arts specialist. The film highlights JBR’s intense rhythmical wordplay dealing with themes of addiction and self-identity.
FLOWERS is an afro-futuristic fairytale of love, following a ceremony of a mother giving away her son, adopting references to classic Disney stories from the 1930s-50s, modernising tropes for a coming of age tale.
