What if the words don't exist yet?
Jared Blake

There's an understandable focus on communication but are we even translating? Communication is easy. Translating is multilingual and more difficult. Men and Women don't speak the same language and it shows and it's okay, the words don't exist yet or maybe we haven't learned them.

There's words for emotions in other languages that don't exist in English, 'Nostalgia' has many names. Does that mean we've never felt those emotions or do we just not have the words for it yet. Idk, all I know is there's a combination of letters that can unlock anything, a combination of sentences and expressions that can unlock anything...A spell and spelling are the same word.

A wise person once said Humanity can only evolve as fast as our language does. We're still throwing rocks and making noise. Let's enjoy the silence when we can. That's as close to understanding as we usually get.

MUSIC
Who Knows Where The Time Goes
Maggie Miller

My relationship with music has changed over the past couple of years. While fear, grief, and disaster have joined shitty forces, music has softened their awful blows. Here are songs, some old, some new. They help me remember the way it felt before every decision took the shape of a moral quandary, before I was a (late) thirty-something who worries about inflation, before cancer started photobombing our family portrait. That in the midst of complicated times, you can find uncomplicated joy.

Calm
Feeks Chowdhury

These chunes were pulled to keep one energy in mind and it’s being calm. Now be mindful that different parts of the world will use this adjective in different ways, so there may be some songs that are a bit more progressive than others. None the less, feel free to spin these during  that ill sunrise, your favorite sunsets, the gloomy rainy days and when you just need to be in the zone. Keep hope alive, bless.

Portraiture
Lawrence Agyei

Lawrence Agyei (b. 1990) is a Ghanaian photographer with footprints in Italy, living on Chicago's south side. Through Agyei's use of portraiture, the hidden languages held deep within the body of his subjects find comfort revealing themselves through Agyei's lens. The vibrancy, boldness, the coolness, and subtle textures of his portraits unveiled through Agyei's use of film ensures that their voices will never go unnoticed nor will they be forgotten. And, as long as Agyei has his camera, there will always be a platform for his subjects to speak their truths in the most melodic way.
