If we take away all the titles of music you take away that this is rock and roll, this is country, this is blues, this is jazz, and we strip is down--its just the same thing. You know, at its core, its just about human emotion, you know, it is about passion, it is about pain, it is about fear, it is about aspiration. You know we're all basically the same.

SYNERGY || Kwame
All these songs were recorded decades before my time.
Many if not all the artists of these timeless sounds have passed away.
But similar to other sounds from the 70s and 80s this playlist of West African soulful instrument heavy band music lives on. It’s quite compelling we find ourselves in our adult years reaching back for the music and culture our ancestors thrived on.
The oneness of humanity!

Couch Surfing || Mark Bowers
With all the travel bans in place and no traveling happening, sit back on the couch and enjoy music from artists from over 30 countries and let them transport you to somewhere new

Lifestyle Vibin || Tuyee Yeboah

Our days can often be filled with noise and chaos, whether it be from our working lives, societal pressures or our personal lives. So as an avid meditator, it's important for me to find calm and stillness throughout the day. The Lifestyle Vibin' playlist helps me achieve just that. It is a calming playlist to work to, center yourself on, and merely let go. I hope it can help bring you peace in your day as it has always done for me

Isolation Radio || Ethan Converse
Years ago, I stumbled upon a beautiful passage on the subject of melancholy, by way of a Swedish website that sells raincoats (go figure). Shared below, it's an empowering statement on a complex emotion that's too often confused or dismissed as a simple sadness. This isolation playlist features some of my favorite artists who allow me to fully sink into this state of mind. I invite you to listen through with your first cup of coffee in the morning. Hopefully the songs tug on your heart strings just the right amount.

"Feeling blue inspires creativity. Being melancholic is an essential part of being a human being. If we try too hard to get rid of melancholy it’s almost like we’re settling for a half-life. To embrace melancholy is ultimately to embrace joy.Melancholy shouldn’t be confused with depression. Melancholy is an active state. When we’re melancholic, we feel uneasy with the way things are, the status quo, the conventions of our society. We yearn for a deeper, richer relationship with the world. And in that yearning, we’re forced to explore the potential within ourselves – a potential we might not have explored if we were simply content.

Through our melancholy we come up with new ways of seeing the world and new ways of being in the world. Melancholy and creativity go together like ebony and ivory on a piano."
