Re-Emergence
Leala King

I thought I’d write an apology for being gone so long.
But then I thought better.
I’m not sorry.
I came back to life in that solace.
Consciously uncommitting
to commitments,
taking a step back instead of another step forward;
It was an effort worth exerting.
Resting is full of life.
Resting is life-giving.
Resting is how mortals keep going.
And now,
now with rest I gave myself,
I am coming back with intention.

RE-EMERGENCE : The process of becoming conscious again.

MUSIC
Nostalgia For You
Giullian Yao Gioiello

Songs that feel like snippets of fading memories.
For listening under moonlight or lying in dewy grass
with your headphones on.

Lover Girl
Allie Mason

I have loved, I’ve been heart broken and broken hearts. Many times I feel discouraged by men’s intentions with me. I’ve tried to be cold, distant, and β€œunbothered”, but these acts hinder me from myself. I have learned that my vulnerability is the best part of who I am and even when I want to give up, I choose love every time. This playlist is a reflection of my experience with love, and I hope you can relate as much as I do.

Black Boy Fly
Joshua Renfroe

Joshua Renfroe is a NYC based photographer, film director, art director and author by way of Tuskegee, Alabama. With only 1 year of photography experience, Joshua felt a personal charge to explore his artistic freedom while celebrating his blackness. This charge led to the inception of Renfroe's first self published photo book, Black Boy Fly.

The book is an amalgamation of visuals that showcase the unique makeup of black male culture.

β€œThe journey of the black male is multifaceted, one where both trial and triumph intersect on an extreme level. It's an important story to tell.”
